Supports grows for the Stay At Home Mother
Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day this week by giving all UK women real freedom and real choice over both their career and family life.
Choosing to stay at home when your children are small should not be a privilege that only the rich can afford and should not be seen as an inferior or second best. For progress to continue we must enable women to have a genuine choice to spend more time at home if they want to including reforming our tax system to recognise family responsibilities.
On International Women’s Day, Miriam Cates MP reminded the House of Commons of the inequality of choice that many mothers face.
Meanwhile, Cristina Odone (Head of Family Policy at the Centre for Social Justice), writes about how to become a truly '“family-friendly government” by changing the tax system to help poorer mothers.
